Lighthouse Ride 62-mile Route

Ride Description

The 62-mile Metric Century ride follows the 6-mile paved, off-road South Portland Greenbelt, travels along Maine's beautiful shoreline through Cape Elizabeth and South Portland, passing by 8 historic lighthouses, 3 state parks, 5 gorgeous beaches, and 2 museums. The route then follows down the coast through the summer resort of Old Orchard Beach to picturesque Camp Ellis.

The ride usually takes 6 to 7 hours on flat to rolling terrain and includes a 3-mile crossing of the beautiful Scarborough Marsh on the Eastern Trail (crossed both going out and return trip). The trail has a fine, packed gravel surface which is suitable for road bikes traveling at 10 mph. The remainder of the ride is on paved public roads.
