Caribou Bog Mountain Bike Trails

Ride Description

The trails at Newman Hill offer year-round recreation in varied forest that includes Newman Hill, the second highest point in Orono; however, given that much of the area overlaps with the Orono Bog, many trails are not accessible in the summer and the area is better known as a favorite winter recreation area with groomed cross-country ski trails and marked snowshoe trails.

The trail from the parking area follows the ski trail signs. The trail is graveled at this point. Take the first right and cross a gravel road. Follow a pond to the woods. Follow the woods road and eventually, the trail will go rather steeply up. The trail goes across the top of the hill with an area to sit at the very top. Continue the trail down the other side of the hill and follow the gravel railroad bed along a pond back to the parking area.

Ride Highlights
